Introduction to Habitat Vietnam and its fields of business
Habitat for Humanity began working in Vietnam in January 2001 with its first project in Danang City. Currently Habitat Vietnam has projects that cover three regions North, Central and South. As of end-Dec 2017, Habitat Vietnam has enabled more than 14,000 low-income Vietnamese families to improve their living conditions through decent homes, clean water and safe sanitation. Habitat Vietnam has also provided training in areas such as disaster preparedness, financial education, and hygiene practices to around 100,000 individuals.
Habitat for Humanity in Vietnam currently partners with government agencies such as People’s Committees, Vietnam Red Cross, Women’s Union, Fatherland Front, Youth Union and others in many provinces across Vietnam, from provincial level down to grassroot levels at communes and villages to boost projects sustainability through housing microfinance program.
Through its new line of business Housing market development, Habitat Vietnam is looking for partnership with MFIs, social/community funds and other financial institutions to promote housing microfinance in Vietnam.
