Recently, Vietnam Microfinance Working Group (VMFWG), with support from Citi Foundation – Citi Bank has organized CMA 2017 award ceremonies to honor the Typical Microentrpreneurs Citi – Vietnam 2017 in Mekong Delta region, specifically in Can Tho, Ben Tre and Tien Giang.

Different from the annual ceremony in which all the microentrepreneurs are invited to join the CMA ceremony in Hanoi, this effort showed commitment of VMFWG and Citi Foundation – Citibank to encourage the Typical Microentrepreneurs who effectively used microfinance support to increase income and create positive impacts to their communities in particular, and to the society in general. The award ceremonies organized in local areas also provided opportunities for the local authority to witness the impacts of microfinance and further support its development in the area.

On January 27th, 2018, the award for Typical Microentrepreneurs Citi – Vietnam 2017 was awarded to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kieu Oanh at the meeting hall of the People’s Committee of Dong Binh Commune, Thoi Lai District, Can Tho City. Participants include representatives from the local authority, Can Tho Capital Aid Fund for Women’s Economic Development; representatives of VMFWG, Citi Foundation – Citibank, Board of Judges; and many local women with access to microfinance funds, both in the past and at the moment.

On January 30th, 2018, the award for Typical Microentrepreneurs Citi – Vietnam 2017 was awarded to Ms. Bui Thi Lanh in the 2017 Activities Review of Ben Tre Capital Aid Fund for Women’s Economic Development. Participants of the event include former Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) – Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Thanh, representatives of local authority, officers and managers from Ben Tre Capital Aid Fund for Women’s Economic Development and representatives of VMFWG, Citi Foundation – Citibank, and Board of Judges.

On the same day, former Deputy Governor of SBV, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Thanh and representatives of local authority, Tien Giang Capital Aid Fund for Women’s Economic Development (MOM) and representatives of VMFWG, Citi Foundation – Citibank, and Board of Judges also traveled to Ms. Tran Thi Loan Chi home to award her the Typical Microentrepreneurs CMA 2017 award. This ceremony provided an opportunity for all the participants to witness the positive impacts of microfinance activities in Vietnam.

The Vietnam Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards is an annual global activity funded by Citi Foundation/ Citi Bank Vietnam since 2007. The CMA has been held by Vietnam Microfinance Working Group Vietnam (VMFWG) with the support of State Bank of Vietnam and Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (VINASME). The CMA has recognized the contributions of 453 typical microentrepreneurs, 114 excellent credit staffs, and 67 typical microfinance institutions in Vietnam in the last 11 years.
